Xatar - 3D Scanning and Digital Double Character Creation
We were honored to collaborate with the visionary design studio Sucuk und Bratwurst to bring German rap icon Xatar into the digital realm for an exclusive NFT release. This partnership utilized high-fidelity 3D scanning and precise character creation to capture the artist's unique likeness for the metaverse.
Overview
It was a privilege to host the creative team from Sucuk und Bratwurst and the legendary artist Xatar at our Berlin studio to embark on this groundbreaking digital art project. The goal was to translate Xatar’s physical presence into a high-fidelity digital collectible, requiring an acute attention to detail and a seamless workflow between our teams.
Supporting Sucuk und Bratwurst’s creative direction, we focused on capturing the raw authenticity of the artist and multiple additional subjects through advanced photogrammetry. This Xatar x Sucuk und Bratwurst collaboration highlights how 3D scanning and character creation are reshaping the boundaries of music, digital identity, and ownership.
Project Experience
Precision in Capture: Working closely with the Xatar x Sucuk und Bratwurst team, we utilized our high-resolution 3D Scanning rig to capture neutral scan data for the artist and supporting cast, ensuring the foundation for the modeling pipeline was pixel-perfect.
Translating the Persona: The session allowed us to carefully observe the Artist/Performer's distinct features, translating Xatar's persona into the digital sphere through intricate likeness sculpting and texturing within the Xatar x Sucuk und Bratwurst project workflow.
Visual Fidelity: By refining details down to the pores, beard, and eyebrows, the final Xatar x Sucuk und Bratwurst model stands as a testament to the impact of high-quality Character Creation in the evolving NFT space.
Mimic’s Contribution
3D Scanning
Facilitating the initial data acquisition, we captured high-resolution head scans for Xatar and multiple additional subjects. This process generated the pristine, neutral scan data required to support Sucuk und Bratwurst's design workflow and served as the anchor for the entire character pipeline.
Likeness Sculpting & Modeling
Our team focused on the intricate process of likeness sculpting, advancing the model from initial forms to a high-detail Level 6 finish. This included precise adjustments to eye geometry and teeth likeness to ensure the digital double authentically reflected the Artist's unique features.
Advanced Texturing & Refinement
To achieve a photorealistic look, we executed a secondary likeness pass that involved cleaning diffuse textures and refining organic details. Special attention was paid to the beard, eyebrows, and eyelid projections to ensure the final assets met the campaign’s high visual standards.
