It was a distinct pleasure to partner with GiraffenToast to support the visual world-building for the Nina Chuba Glass Tour 2024. By providing specialized 3D Scanning and asset cleanup, we were thrilled to help translate the artist's vibrant stage presence into the digital realm for an unforgettable concert experience.
Overview
Welcoming the talented Nina Chuba to our studio for the Nina Chuba Glass Tour 2024 project was a creative highlight for our team. Collaborating closely with the visionaries at GiraffenToast, our goal was to create a Digital Double base that would serve as the centerpiece for the tour’s immersive visual backdrop.
The project focused on capturing the nuances of the Artist/Performer’s likeness through precision 3D Scanning. We were honored to play a supporting role in this technical journey, ensuring every detail - from skin texture to the subtle contours of the face - was meticulously prepared to meet the high standards of a major live tour production.
Project Experience
To ensure the highest level of technical fidelity for the Nina Chuba Glass Tour 2024, our team utilized advanced 3D Scanning workflows to eliminate artifacts in sensitive areas like the inner lower lid and nostrils, providing a clean foundation for the final asset.
Capturing the unique essence of the Artist/Performer was at the heart of this collaboration, where we worked diligently to preserve the natural hairline and skin tones within the Digital Double to reflect Nina Chuba’s authentic stage persona.
The final visual impact of the Nina Chuba Glass Tour 2024 relied on seamless texture integration, achieved through rigorous QC and side-by-side comparisons with original scan data to ensure the 3D Scanning results matched the real-world lookdev perfectly.
Mimic’s Contribution
3D Head Scanning & Geometry Cleanup:
Our team performed a meticulous cleanup of the raw scan data, focusing on removing the hair cap and refining the hairline. By adding filler hair geometry, we ensured the Digital Double provided a perfect foundation for the final groom to blend naturally with the Artist/Performer's features.
Texture Painting & Albedo Refinement:
We specialized in the removal of baked-in elements, such as eyelashes and shadows, from the albedo maps. This detailed texture work was essential to creating a clean, high-resolution 3D Scanning deliverable that allowed for flexible lighting and shading during the tour's visual sequences.
Lookdev & Quality Control:
Supporting the vision of GiraffenToast, we conducted intensive projection QC, cross-referencing nostrils and eyelid edges against original reference images. This process ensured the Digital Double maintained 1:1 color accuracy for the skin, lips, and eyes, matching the real-world appearance of the Artist/Performer.
