ITEA MOSIM - Motion Capture & 3D Avatar Modeling
We were honored to collaborate with the ITEA MOSIM project to advance the future of industrial simulation through precise Motion Capture and high-fidelity 3D Avatar Modeling. By capturing complex automotive production tasks and delivering detailed Texturing for character assets, we supported the creation of highly adaptive, visually distinct AI-driven avatars for internal systems research.
Overview
It was a privilege to contribute to the innovative ITEA MOSIM project, an R&D initiative focused on optimizing internal systems for the automotive industry. The goal was to bridge the gap between human movement and digital simulation by creating modular motion units that allow AI avatars to perform specific tasks, such as switching arm positions or executing complex assembly actions, with realistic fluidity.
Beyond the movement data, we were thrilled to refine the visual identity of the simulation. Working on the 3D Avatar Modeling and Texturing allowed us to bring a layer of visual realism to the technical data, ensuring the avatars not only moved like industrial specialists but looked the part as well.

Project Experience

Precision in Data: For the ITEA MOSIM project, our studio facilitated high-fidelity Motion Capture sessions specifically designed to record detailed task actions and locomotion within a simulated car production environment.
Capturing Industrial Authenticity: We worked closely with the Artists and Performers to ensure every industrial movement, from heavy lifting to fine motor assembly, was captured authentically, providing the ITEA MOSIM team with the realistic data needed for their AI systems.

Visual Impact: To complement the movement data, we provided detailed 3D Avatar Modeling and Texturing, ensuring that the digital doubles featured accurate clothing, shoes, and branding to maintain visual consistency within the simulation.
Mimic’s Contribution
Motion Capture & MMU Development:
We facilitated the planning and recording of locomotion and task actions, handling the creation of Modular Motion Units (MMUs) and ensuring smooth playback within Unity via the MOSIM Thrift pipeline.
3D Avatar Modeling:
Our team refined the 3D avatar geometry to improve likeness and proportions, ensuring the digital characters met the visual standards required for high-quality industrial simulation.
Texturing of Clothing & Shoes:
We meticulously textured the avatar’s clothing and shoes, applying material tuning for visual consistency and updating specific branding elements, such as logos and garment details, to align with the project’s aesthetic.
