Mimic Productions partnered with Japanese artist DJ Yellock to develop a state-of-the-art digital double for live performance. Our work spanned motion capture, animation, and real-time rendering, culminating in a groundbreaking virtual human performance at Womb Club, Tokyo, redefining interactive music and immersive entertainment.
Overview
This landmark project, DJ Yellock, showcases the potent synergy between high-end artistry. Mimic Productions was tasked with creating a highly realistic, performable digital double of DJ Yellock. Our role was crucial in delivering the technology stack that enabled the artist's virtual persona to interact with the audience and the environment in real time, pushing the boundaries of live music performance and virtual production for a global audience.
Campaign Experience
The core challenge of the DJ Yellock project was achieving visual fidelity while maintaining ultra-low latency for the real-time motion capture performance. Mimic Productions ensured the digital double’s movements and character were captured and rendered instantaneously, preserving the raw energy and spontaneity of a live music event.
This collaboration effectively demonstrated how advanced virtual production techniques can transform the live entertainment sector, providing a proof-of-concept for integrating a virtual human directly into a physical club setting. The performance captured the essence of DJ Yellock’s persona while leveraging real-time rendering to create an entirely new visual experience.
The use of advanced techniques such as cloth simulation, refined shading, and detailed lighting brought exceptional realism to the DJ Yellock digital double. Motion Capture & Real-Time Performance
Mimic Productions managed the complete motion capture pipeline, translating the artist’s live physical movements into the digital double’s actions in the virtual space with extremely low latency, enabling the seamless, interactive live show.
Animation
Our team handled the complex setup for real-time animation, including dynamic cloth simulations, ensuring the digital double looked authentic and responded physically to the virtual environments during the live performance.
